Rustic Kennels has closed it's doors to the public at this time, we are still actively training and seeking quality cane corso's even though it is becoming harder and harder as time goes by to find the qualities we see is our Aragorn. What makes this so hard is breeders use the fads and I highly recommend any person seeking a cane corso to buy another breed. The breed can be awesome as a family guardian but what most breeders buy and breed from Italy are sick inferior dogs. I know the Italian breeders will not like me saying this but after years of seeing and knowing first hand it is true. Any line that deals with Simon also known as tanzerellas Simon del Mapelo and any lines going back to Corini, degli olmi and parco del po are full of health issues including epilepsy, hip dysplasia, temperament issues, submissive urination and more. People continue to breed these lines and most are inbreeding upon them. My old breeding partner also in Ontario Canada is using these lines and producing ill dogs and still continues to breed them. I bred 3 litters from these lines in 2003 and almost every single puppy came down with epilepsy including one dog I loved dearly known as Rhino. Rhino lives a full life on Phenobarbital and still has about 1 seizures every couple of months on the full moon. A few so called people all associated with my x breeding partner tried very hard to make it look like my stud dog Aragorn was to blame for the epilepsy since she was and is still breeding these unhealthy dogs, but she knows and any person using their brain can see what has really happened. Aragorn has bred many females resulting in hundreds of puppies and the only ones ever to be ill were from females of the lines listed above directly related to my x partners stud dog and female brood dog. Aragorn has bred his 3/4 sister, daughters, and all results were very good with resulting puppies better then he and none having epilepsy and many are well past the age of onset now. This proves Aragorn is not a carrier of this serious health problem effecting the Italian lined cane corso. All breeders will run into issues within their breeding program but what makes a good breeder is when you see the problem and stop right then. What made this hard for us was our vet played a very big role in our breeding program and told us many times that in no way could these seizures be inherited and the pups were epileptic due to the fact that we had given them great amounts of medications due to an ecoli and other bacteria outbreaks we had in 2003 prior to moving from our farm in Alliston, Ontario. So we trusted our vet and continued to breed a few more litters only to have hell break loose when these pups hit 10-16months of age it seemed like all of them fell ill at the same time. Our vet still wanted us to continue breeding from the females that were in question but we removed all dogs that we could find links to in other kennels with epilepsy and that only left us a stud dog. If deciding to buy a cane corso, I highly recommended buying from two lines, American lines that are mostly known as Belmonte as these serious problems you will not see or hear about. This epilepsy is commonly found in only Italian Lines recently imported. The only Italian line that appears clear of Epilepsy is known as Dyrium. Aragorn is of the Dyrium line and many people claim to have this line but do not. When looking for a dog of the Dyrium line he should very impressive with massive bone and a huge head piece, strong character and heavy muscles. Many of what people are calling dyrium today are in fact cross bred boxer bullmastiff mutts. This website was made to share some photos of the dogs we owned and bred to show why people love to talk cheap about us and most of what these online junkies state are far from the actual truth. One thing I learnt from being online with a business is that many of the people you meet online are very lonely people who live their whole life online and enjoy the Kaous of fighting and causing trouble for others so they can feel like they have a purpose. As you can see we achieved many of the firsts in the Cane Corso world and we still stand very proud of what we achieved in such a short time, we still will be doing working events with our Aragorn and he will still sire a few litters in 2005. We have hand picked 2 youngsters from pure "Dyrium" blood and also have handsome adult male from Italy bred by Vito of Dyrium kennels. Watch for these 3 along with Aragorn at local events with our new professional handlers and new Rustic partners in 2006! Please enjoy our gallery of Photos We are now on our 4TH generation of Rustic puppies- Champions, working, and temperament tested!! We don't buy our 'BEST' we produce them here at Rustic.
